Overview

The following application allow you to easily resize multiple images as a single action and downloading the software is simple and the installation too is very easy. It’s important to note that this is not a Dolphin Dynamics product and therefore not a product that we are able to support. This is a free to use application from the internet.

How to use Image resizer for Windows

After installing the application, go to your image folder.

Select the images you wish to resize and right click, select Resize Pictures,

The following window will appear,

 Things to note

• We would suggest separating landscape vs portrait images (or at the very least test the software when resizing both aspect ratios at the same time)
• We would suggest deselecting the checkbox labelled as “MAKE PICTURES SMALLER BUT NOT LARGER”. The reason being is that if you have an image smaller than the size you are looking to achieve, the software will stretch the image, and this will cause the image to be fuzzy and blurred.
• We would suggest deselecting the checkbox labelled as “RESIZE ORIGINAL PICTURES (DONE CREATE COPIES)”. This will create a copy of your original (master) image and resize this copy to the required size. The original image will not be affected and will remain at the high resolution. The below screen shot shows the original (master) file as highlighted and the copy immediately below if in white highlight.

You can see that the image size has changed as per the size you have selected to resize to. You will need to experiment with image sizes and review the quality of the resized image to ensure you get the best size/quality combination. 

As a general guideline we would suggest experimenting with images sizes between 50kb to 150kb. This doesn’t mean you cannot have images larger than 150kb, but having many images loaded that are larger in size can result in performance issues, particularly for users with low bandwidth connections. The idea is to reduce the image files to the smallest size that still looks good on a large desktop monitor.
