AMADEUS BOOKING IMPORT: Structured remarks to support the creation of Other folder items

The Amadeus booking import functionality has been enhanced to import passive miscellaneous segments from Amadeus into the Booking Management Module (BMM) and create Other folder items in an automated fashion.

Where possible, existing user and branch interfacing settings and logic has been leveraged to provide a smooth user experience in line with the existing process of importing car and hotel passive segments.

Other segment information is included in Amadeus AIR files as MIS segments. MIS segments are composed of standard elements and free text lines. Some of the standard elements are used to create an Other item in the BMM. However, most of the data required for the creation of an Other item in a BMM folder is included in the free text lines. The free text lines within MIS segments are a part of the segment description. Amadeus users can enter a maximum of 232 characters of free-flow text (including spaces) to describe the product.

Predefined tags are used to enter data in the free text lines, as illustrated in the below examples:

Example 1: MIS segment with sell currency and sell price

Additional points to note:

• Logic to handle Other item locations: The BMM allows different settings for the start and end locations of Other items, such as structured or unstructured, and mandatory or optional. The BMM import logic will handle the different scenarios and populate the Dep. Location and Destination fields accordingly.

• Logic to handle Other item sell/buy price: The BMM expects the MIS segment to include either the sell currency and price or the buy currency and price, or both. This might result in various scenarios, some valid and some invalid. In the event of an invalid scenario, the BMM will be unable to import the file and will advise the user accordingly.

IMPORTANT NOTE: the import logic of Amadeus MIS segments has been extended with additional development delivered in the 20.059 release. This is because some Dolphin Dynamics customers use fictitious MIS segments to keep PNRs alive after the flights have been flown as a “save segment”.
