The Dolphin system has a feature called Linked Remarks, which allows you to automatically display additional content (entirely managed by your company) on customer documentation based on different criteria.
These remarks can be associated with various reference data used in the Booking Management Module (BMM), such as arrival point codes, country codes, destinations, airline class codes, vendor profiles and product database contracts and products.
To be able to fully manage (i.e. add, retrieve and delete) remarks and linked remarks, BMM users must have the Remarks setting ticked within the Access/Updates tab of the security profile associated to their user code. This security setting also allows BMM users to select where the remark should be displayed or what document type they should be printed on.
The first step is to create a remark type: this is a way to configure high level categories such as Entry requirements or Facilities or a generic Remarks. Remark types can be accessed from Search > Itinerary Reference Data > Remarks > Remark Type.
Below is an example of a remark type:
The best practice is to load a limited number of remark types depending on the category of information you plan to add to customer documentation. You might find that you only need to create two remark types: for example, Visa and Remarks.
The next step is to create a remark. This allows you to pre-load in the BMM the text that will display on customer documentation. Remarks can be accessed from Search > Itinerary Reference Data > Remarks > Remarks.
Below is an example of a remark:
The remark belongs to a remark type and it could be configured with text, however this means that the text is generic enough to be applicable to multiple scenarios. For example, your T&Cs could be configured as a remark.
However, as linked remarks are related to one arrival point code or country code, it makes more sense to take a different approach.
Below is an example of a linked remark associated to a country code:
This screenshot shows that there is a linked remark associated to the country code. This is how the linked remark is configured:
Below the remark name, there is a Display/Print Options button that allows users to choose where the text entered in the remark should display or print on customer documentation:
Display/Print option | Explanation |
Booking Engine - Direct content pages. | The linked remark will appear in the Booking Engine content pages for direct customers. |
Booking Engine - Resale content pages. | The linked remark will appear in the Booking Engine content pages for resale customers. |
Customer Booking Confirmation | The linked remark will appear on the Booking Confirmation document at the time of printing. |
GIRO | The linked remark will appear on the ATOL Certificate at the time of printing. |

Resale Folder Hand-Off: Printing Notes | This option will allow the remark to be included in the resale folder hand-off file, in the folder/item’s printing notes. |
RM - In house content pages | This linked remark will appear in the reservation module content pages. Please note that this is only applicable to Product Database products. |
Vendor Extranet Product Information | This linked remark will appear in the vendor extranet the View Product Information window. |
Customer Voucher | The linked remark will appear on the Voucher document at the time of printing. |
Below is an example of how to configure the display/print options:
Users can also choose whether the remark should be printed at folder or item level. For example, if a folder includes an itinerary to Brazil, it makes sense to display the Visa information at folder level. If I configured a remark to provide information about a hotel, it makes sense to display at item level.
In our example, we entered the text as an override to the linked remark:
This allows you to create less linked remarks and enter tailored text as overrides. The other benefit of using overrides is that they can be limited to a specific creation and/or travel date range.
