Dolphin's Pricing and Preferencing Engine is a very powerful tool which allows you to setup rules that will automatically be applied to a folder or item, provided that the set conditions are all met.
It is a very flexible module which can help you ensure that commissions, mark ups and fees will never be missed and quotes will be accurate.
Dolphin customers can choose to what extent to use this fully configurable module.
In the BMM, the pricing engine is automatically initiated in the below scenarios:
- When a folder is confirmed from cost quote to normal folder
- When a folder is imported from the booking import queue
- When a customer document is generated by any method (email, window, printer)
Also, users can manually initiate the pricing and preferencing rules by selecting the Price Folder/Items button in the folder Pricing tab or within each segment dialog.
In the RM, the pricing engine is automatically initiated when searching for availability, creating a folder (enquiry or confirmed) or cancelling a booking.
The basic principle of the pricing engine is that each rule is made of a list of conditions. When all the conditions are met, an action takes place: for example, all car hire bookings in branch AA are subject to a 10% mark up.
Below is a list of examples of rules that can be configured using this module:
1. Apply 15% commission on all hotel bookings made with Expedia
2. Apply 10% mark up to all other hotel bookings
3. Apply 20% mark-up to all transfer bookings
4. Apply a 10% mark up to all fares on Easy Jet and Ryanair (for more information, see here)
5. Apply different folder fees per item type per booking (for more information see here)
6. Apply ATOL fees per passenger
7. Apply a £50 discount only to VIP customers (for more information see here)
8. Apply a ranking display to hotel connectors in the RM search results
These are just some of the most common scenarios.
